यत्रनार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवता:

नारीशक्ति शक्तिशाली समाजस्य निर्माणं करोति

Mangal Pandey, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar….Have ever you heard these names? Most of you know them as freedom fighters and social reformers. Maharani Velu Nachiyar, Gauri Parvati Bai, Madam Bhikaji Cama, Annie Besant, Usha Mehta, Kamala Nehru…Do you know them? Of course, most of you didn’t even hear these names ever !!! That’s the point we didn’t know about female sacrifices and their contribution in making India independent ....

In 1857, The first war of independence had fought against the British the well-known Mangal Pandey have inspirited the people of India to get freedom but we don't know about Maharani Velu Nachiyar the queen of the Sivaganga estate. She was the first woman who fought against the British army and probably the only queen who become successful to defeat the British before 1857. Gauri Parvati Bai the queen of Travancore from 1815 to 1826 carried out reforms and emphasized the need for education of girls thus in many ways helping women elevate from social and educational stigma. Some so many known females who were not even known for what they have done for our country. Women have faced a lot, they fought with true spirit and undaunted courage and faced various tortures, exploitations, and hardships to earn us freedom. It's not about discrimination or male dominance but we only know a few female fighters like Rani Laxmi Bai, Sarojini Naidu, Begum Hazrat Mahal, and Kasturba Gandhi. Females like Maharani Velu Nachiyar should be also known and given the same approbation as we are giving to other freedom fighters…

In the above shloka which means where women are worshipped there the Gods rejoice. Women's empowerment can make society powerful. Women have always played an important role in every field. A woman is a mother, a daughter, a sister, a woman is everything. Here I am ending my views concerning our memorable freedom fights...
