At present, if you go out of your home and ask a random person who is a journalist, He or she will say a reporter, but a journalist is a reporter only. I will reply with a big no. A journalist is a person who can be an editor, photographer, correspondent, intelligencer, newshound, newsman, newsperson, reporter, sportswriter, police reporter, copyrighter, and the list goes on. Journalism is a vast field where different people perform different work of their interest.

In our constitution of India, media is stated as the 4th pillar, which plays the most important role in the country or world. The main work of media is IEC, which means information, education, and communication. It is a key that the media uses. It is the work of the media to inform the public about anything like current issues, events, debates between politicians, the work of government, and so on. If we talk about the role of media in this digital world, yes, it is still playing a very important role by enlightening the public offline as well as online. In this digital world, media has also developed its level of communication with the public. Now, people record any video and send it to the channel for the truth. Yeah, it has advantages and disadvantages, but it is helping the public to get involved in the matter of the country by putting their thoughts publicly. For example, they are using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and any other social media platforms for putting their thoughts or options.

Journalists are still playing the role at ground level. If we look back in 2020, the lamentable year for everyone when Corona came, yes, there was a lockdown, but the journalist was not off duty. They were traveling to rural areas to know the situation of the area and inform us about the situation. In today's digital age, every citizen has the potential to function as a journalist with a commitment to uncovering the truth, raising awareness, and holding wrongdoers accountable. Rather than diminishing the role of professional journalists, the digital world is fostering the growth of citizen journalists, who are increasing in number with each passing day.
